I will donate the money raised from the sale of this little one to the American Red Cross Haiti Relief fund.
As I watched the CNN coverage of the Haiti disaster I could see the pain and despair in the eyes of the people as well as the those of the reporters and rescue workers. In the background of all of he noise and commotion I could hear voices singing praises to the Lord. A comforting sound. Then there was an announcement that a child was born in the midst of the chaos. The singing of the people and the cries of the newborn became one….“Amazing Grace, how sweet the sound, that saved a wretch like me…”
So, this was the result of that moment…Baby Grace, how Amazing!
Here she is, Little Grace, a 12th scale miniature. She is just over 1 ½ inches long. Baby Grace is made using a combination of polymer clays to achieve just the right skin tone. Her baby skin has a dry irregular sun drenched appearance. She has been painted with heat set oil paints. Her eyes, nose and lips have been glazed. She is wearing a white cotton diaper and a brightly colored tropical turquoise blouse with silk ribbon shoulder straps. Her hair is a combination of brown wool and viscose fiber. I have crocheted a multicolored thread basket bassinet for her to sleep in. Draped over the edge is a bright fuchsia blanket.
Well, the images of the disaster in Haiti have kept me from my work again. Trying to concentrate in front of the T.V. with Dr. Sanjay Gupta and Anderson Cooper from CNN detailing the massive destruction and the faces of the tiniest victims has swept me in a different direction. Sometimes I have no control over this and whatever needs to emerge from the clay just does.
Here she is...Little Haiti. She is just over one inch in a seated position and made with an assortment of polymer clays to achieve the perfect skin color. She has been painted with heat set oil paints and her chocolate colored eyes, nose and lips have been glazed. Her baby skin has a dry irregular sun drenched appearance just as it appeared on the little ones. Her hair is a combination of brown wool and viscose fiber. Tiny red glass bead are attached to the top of her two little braids. Baby Haiti is wearing a white cotton diaper and a tropical fuchsia colored blouse with yellow floss trim. I have crocheted a multicolored thread basket for her to sit in. Draped over the edge is a turquoise ocean colored blanket.
I will be listing this little one on Ebay this week. I will donate the money raised from the sale to the American Red Cross Haiti Relief fund.
One more baby has emerged from this. She will be listed in a few of days. She will also be donated to the Red Cross. I hope that this is it...I need to get back to work soon. Thank you for your support. Enjoy!
